FKM USA has started up a new casting line for high-temperature resistant polyurethane roll coverings at its plant in Frankfort/Illinois. This makes it possible to supply customers in the flat metal industry in the USA directly on site.
These roller coverings offer considerable advantages for the flat metal and aluminum industry, especially for suppliers to the automotive industry. They clearly outperform traditional rubber coverings in terms of their mechanical properties. However, high temperatures or chemical attack by water (hydrolysis) often stand in the way of the use of PU coverings. FKM sets new standards here: our special PU roller coverings combine an increased operating temperature of 120°C with outstanding hydrolysis stability.
These coverings can also be applied to large-diameter rollers using rotational molding. Large S-rolls with increased temperature requirements are used, for example, in the CASH lines of the aluminum industry (Continuous Annealing Solution Heat-Treatment). Here they demonstrate their superior wear and cut resistance and offer an excellent alternative to conventional rubber coverings.
