The maintenance of lightweight rollers in the steel production is now easier: with our new wear indicator solution, you know at a glance when a covering needs to be replaced.
Lightweight rollers have proven their worth in the steel industry over the years thanks to their low weight and high load-bearing capacity. Due to their low weight and low mass moment of inertia, lightweight rollers can be accelerated quickly, which extends the service life of the coverings. They are also particularly suitable for areas that are difficult to access and where the use of hoists or cranes is not possible – such as in horizontal accumulators in pickling lines. The roller body made of glass fibre tube, coated with polyurethane, ensures a long service life. Until now, however, it was difficult to recognise the wear of polyurethane coverings in good time.
This is now changing: our new coverings are equipped with a colour-contrasting inner layer. As soon as this becomes visible, you know that the covering needs to be replaced – without unnecessary downtime and time-consuming inspections.
